Pensare in termini di pubblico globale

«I can testify that, as I have gradually become accustomed to the idea that my books might be translated into various languages, I have tried in one study after another (including this one) to avoid allusions that would not be easily intelligible outside Britain, or even outside Europe. I have started to think in terms of potentially global audience, wondering whether a particular statement or allusion will be clear to Japanese or to Brazilian readers. In the process I seem to be reconstructing myself as more of a world citizen, and I am sure that I am not alone in this.»

Cultural Hybridity, Polity, Cambridge, 2009, p. 106.
